Any student enrolled in a public, private, or home school setting (grade 6-8) who
plays a string instrument (violin, viola, cello, bass, or harp) and is
sponsored by a TMEA member.
Public school students should be entered by their orchestra or band
director.
Private School students should be entered by their
orchestra, band, or music director.
Home school students may be
entered by a private teacher or parent.
Every student must have a TMEA member sponsor as a current membership number is required for the entry process.
Every
school director with students entered must be available to judge
these auditions. In the case of an emergency a proxy may be used.
Proxies who are hired, if paid, are paid by the person they
are substituting for.
Parents of home school students must
provide a competent judge if they are not qualified themselves.
Audition Material:
Exerpts
from the concert music and or chosen etudes. Links for the exerpts are at the top of this page.
Etudes will only be
used if the concert music does not provide sufficent audition material.
Usually there are three short exerpts. and students audition in rounds
using an olympic scoring system.
Your TMEA sponsor (normally your orchestra, band, or music
teacher) must enter throught the TMEA. Scroll down to
orchestra division and follow the directions. Its a simple
process. A current TMEA membership number is required for
all students.
Students may be entered until Midnight October 4th.
No late entries will be accepted, no exceptions.
Home School and Private School Students?
These
students are welcome to audition as well. The rules for
entry are the same. A TMEA member must sponsor the students
entry. Parents
of home school students must provide a competent judge if they are not
qualified themselves. An additional fee of $75.00 must be
submitted if no qualified judge is found so that a judge may be hired.
